Gas-shielded welding is a commonly used technology for repair welding. We automate on an application-specific basis, combining flexibility and simplicity with process quality and efficiency.
Regeneration of forming tools
Tool wear is part of the production process. Repair is usually carried out using a manual welding process or by time- and material-wasting machining of the tool. We automate the regeneration process and thus achieve new standards in terms of efficiency and quality. The complexity and variety of repair tasks are managed by process logics and transferred to software-based path planning. By determining the wear level using surface scanning, automation is possible rapidly and without special prior knowledge, even in case of one-off components with surfaces and build situations that are not clearly defined.

Repair of cast components
Casting defects on the surface of large components and in small production series occur constantly and despite careful preparation. To ensure that the defective casting parts can still be used, the component is reworked, and the missing material is applied to the relevant areas using a welding process. On the manufacturing side, precise process planning and control is necessary in order to fuse the additional material with the cast material and to avoid any undesirable material-technological changes in the component, as well as to minimize the amount of finishing work required. With a manual welding process, this task is very demanding and error-prone. This is exactly where our automated welding systems come into play. A surface scanner records the actual contour and calculates the missing material. The automated welding software converts the missing material into a path plan and assigns developed process parameters. A robot then carries out the welding task exactly as specified. The highest quality is achieved with efficient execution.
Overlay welding
Overlay welding or cladding is carried out on components to increase wear protection or to apply material over a large area. In terms of welding technology, the main requirement for the process is to achieve a high build-up rate and to use suitable process parameters for the application. Deposition welding in special machine systems is very time-consuming, especially for individual parts and small batches, and inefficient due to the set-up efforts required. Manual processes reach their limits with larger components or more complex welding tasks. We close this gap with our production systems. Simple and flexible process execution is combined with the efficiency and process control of an automated solution.
